Ingredients and Instructions

1 tbsp oil

1 lb ground chicken

1 yellow onion, diced

1 garlic clove, minced

1 tsp grated fresh ginger

3 tbsp hoisin sauce

2 tbsp tamari

2 tbsp rice vinegar

1 tsp sesame oil

1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

1 cup matchstick carrot

2 green onions, sliced

1 head bibb lettuce

1/2 tsp sesame seeds

  • In a large pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook, breaking it up with the side of a spoon until it is no longer pink, about 5 to 6 minutes.

  • Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until it begins to soften, about 2 to 3 minutes. Add the garlic and ginger and cook until they become fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the hoisin sauce, tamari, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.

  • Add the carrots and green onions and continue to cook until the carrots are heated through, about 1 to 2 minutes.

  • Spoon some of the mixture into each lettuce leaf and top with the sesame seeds.

​

  • Serve immediately. Store the filling in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
